Volunteers are essential to Change Grow Live, bringing valuable skills, for some lived experience, and passion that strengthen our teams, improve outcomes, help us break down barriers and support meaningful change for the people we support. As an Activity and Recovery Events volunteer you will play a key role in proving a safe space for people who use our services to get together, connect and have fun. This a new and exciting opportunity for someone to develop our social activity programme. You will take a lead in organising, promoting, and facilitating fun recovery focused activities like bingo, movie nights and group walks.

 

You will be responding to the needs of our service, including feedback from people who use it, looking at what new activities we could develop to strengthen and enhance the opportunities on offer to the people that access our service.

 

You will be working alongside the staff team and volunteers to do this, as well as local partners and the wider

 

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe space for people who use our services to connect and have fun
  • Organise and prepare activities and events
  • Promote events on social media and within the service/ community
  • Build links with local services, community groups and businesses to help develop activities and events
  • Manage budgets for events and organise prizes, refreshments and food as required
  • Host live events/activities in person or virtually using platforms such as Zoom
  • Work with those who access our service, staff and the community to develop new activities / events
  • Help support people who use our services to provide us with feedback on their views and experiences

 

General terms of reference:

In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:

  • Help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best service to the people we support
  • Follow Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion
  • Work in line with the organisation’s values and adhere to the code of conduct
  • Engage in training and support to help you develop in your role
  • Maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of the people we support
  • Meet the time commitments you have agreed to and give reasonable notice when this is not possible

 

Education Knowledge and Experience:

  • Awareness of the issues experienced by people who use our services
  • Ability to work with professional boundaries
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • IT literacy
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to work on your own initiative
  • Open to giving and receiving feedback
  • Willingness to work with people in different roles and agencies, as well as from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
