Responsibilities

Are you passionate about making a real difference in your community? Do you want to support individuals experiencing homelessness and help them take steps toward recovery and stability? Join us as a Rough Sleepers Support Volunteer and be part of a dedicated team working on the front lines of change.

Purpose of the Role:

As a Rough Sleepers Support Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in engaging with rough sleepers and individuals facing multiple challenges, including substance misuse. You’ll help build trust, offer support, and connect people with the services they need to make positive life changes.

  • Support outreach efforts by engaging with individuals on the streets and in known community locations.
  • Assist with assessments, triage, and the development of recovery plans.
  • Provide harm reduction advice and emotional support.
  • Attend local drop-ins and soup kitchens alongside key workers.
  • Help facilitate pre-detox groups and accompany clients to medical appointments.
  • Document interactions and support on case management systems.
  • Advocate for clients and help them navigate services and support networks.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • IT literacy and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work in varied conditions, including anti-social hours and adverse weather.
