Responsibilities

Make a real difference in the lives of young adults navigating the transition to adult substance misuse services.

Are you passionate about supporting young people? Do you want to be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team helping young adults move confidently into adult services? We’re looking for compassionate, motivated volunteers to join us as Young Adult Transition Volunteers.

As a Young Adult Transition Volunteer, you’ll support clients aged 18–25 as they move from youth to adult drug and alcohol services. Working closely with families, carers, and professionals across health, social care, and criminal justice sectors, you’ll help young adults feel supported, understood, and empowered.

🔹 What You’ll Do:

  • Assist the Young Adult Transition Worker with triages and psycho-social interventions (training provided).
  • Provide harm reduction advice and emotional support.
  • Help clients engage with adult services and attend medical appointments.
  • Support young adults in accessing education, training, employment, or meaningful activities.
  • Use creative and digital methods to build positive relationships and maintain engagement.
  • Represent the service at community events and support training for partner agencies.
  • Help with practical tasks like making phone calls to agencies or attending appointments.

🔹 What You’ll Gain:

  • Valuable experience working with young adults within substance misuse services.
  • Training in motivational interviewing and harm reduction.
  • Opportunities to develop communication, teamwork, and advocacy skills.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on young people’s lives.

Join us and be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team that’s changing lives.
