Making the decision to enter treatment can be an intimidating experience for the people we support. You can make a difference.
As a Volunteer Recovery Worker with Change Grow Live you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be.
With this role you’ll be working as part of the Newham Rise team, based in the borough of Newham.
The team supports people with their or their loved ones’ drug and/or alcohol issues.
No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
As a Diversity and Engagement volunteer, you will play a key role within local communities raising awareness and promoting our services, building positive relationships with people who are from a BAME background. You will be attending community events and forums as well as delivering education and information sessions, providing the community with information and tools around how addiction affects individuals and loved ones. Your role will also include supporting services to understand the barriers faced by individuals from a BAME community and help services to meet their needs.
We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time you give you will receive valuable training and gain experience and skills. You’ll be making a real difference too.
This is what one of our Volunteer Recovery Co-ordinators/people who use our service had to say (use quotes from your service):
“Seeing people move in their treatment journey and seeing a zest in life coming back in their lives is so rewarding”.
Or from a service user:
“ Me and my key worker get on really well and this benefits me, coming to Change Grow Live gives me stability”.
Our values are to be compassionate, open and bold. If this sounds like you we’d love to hear from you so click apply.
