Overview

With this role you will be working with people who are accessing our treatment service.

 

As a recovery hub volunteer you will be joining us in this brand new purpose built space. Are you someone who enjoys connection with people and making a positive impact in the community? You will be helping to create a welcoming, calm, safe and supportive environment for those individuals on their recovery journey. The recovery hub will be providing a calming space for those who are in their recovery journey.

 

This role is about providing a friendly face and reassuring presence for those coming into our recovery hub, people may be accessing the hub for multiple reasons and will access to ; a lounge/ TV area, gym, support with job applications and searching, a space to wash and dry clothes, a space to access clothing and hygiene products for men and women.

 

You will be required to use your own initiative whilst also having the ability to work as part of a team, where people feel valued and welcome.

 

Our opening hours for the Recovery Hub will vary, we hope to work towards Monday to Friday 12pm- 8pm and Saturday – Sunay 10am till 2pm. We ask for reliability from applicants who are applying for this role, as the recovery hub will rely on dedicated volunteers to help keep it running successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting with the day-to-day running of the Recovery Hub, including setting up spaces and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  • Work closely with staff and other volunteers
  • Get involved in activities, groups, or events as appropriate.
  • Signpost people to the right service, activities or staff members.
  • Assist with creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere in the hub.
  • Provide informal support and listen without judgement.
  • Build a positive, non-judgemental relationship with those using our Recovery Hub

 

In carrying out the above role the volunteer will:

 

  • Help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best opportunity to our clients.
  • Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
  • Follow the Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to our staff, volunteers and clients.
  • Maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of our clients; adhering to Change Grow Live’s policies and procedures.
  • Meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible.

 

Skills, experience, and qualities  

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by those who access our service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within professional boundaries.
  • Comfortable engaging with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Compassion and empathy for others.
