Volunteering in Substance Misuse Services

Overview

At Change Grow Live, our Volunteers make an enormous contribution to the work we do. This work is not just limited to those who use substances; we also offer support to families and carers too.

The impact of substance use often extends out from the service user, and families can benefit from support from peers to help understand the needs of the service user, and to develop strategies to support them more effectively. Our families and carers peer support groups have become increasingly popular, and there is a huge benefit to those using these drop ins.

Last year over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of million hours of their time to our organisation.

Would you like to join our growing team of volunteers, and make a real difference?

Responsibilities

Our Familes and Carers Volunteer role is designed to help faciliate our 'Affected Others' families and carers drop in sessions in King's Lynn. These run on a Monday evening, in conjunction with the BRIC Co-ordinator of the service. We are looking to recruit a volunteer to support with these sessions as well as being available to support and link other family members into these sessions in order to help them to get the best out of the support available.

Volunteers contribute to Change Grow Live in a variety of ways. From Admin Volunteers to Service User Reps, from Peer Mentors to Healthcare Support Volunteers, from Independent Visitors to Community Mentors each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and talents. We are incredibly grateful for all that volunteers do to support our service users.

If there isn’t a specific volunteering role listed for the service in your area, or have a skill you would like to donate to us you can use this listing to express your interest.

Most of our volunteer opportunities don’t need any special qualifications. We’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people.

Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are. You don’t need to have personal experience of drug and alcohol recovery to get involved.
