As a SPOC - Single Point of Contact Volunteer with CGL Spectrum you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be.
Making the decision to enter treatment can be an intimidating experience so it’s paramount that we create a welcoming and caring environment which is non-judgmental. Volunteering within our SPOC team is a key opportunity to engage people over the phone or using other methods of technology, your role will be to listen to our service users to understand their needs and support them to access the right intervention at the right time in a way that best meets their needs. You will advising service users about the options that are available to them both within the service and the wider community and offering them appropriate, knowledge and advice to enable them to keep themselves safe. You will be provided with all the skills, knowledge, training and support to undertake the role.
With this role you’ll be working within of our Telecoms - SPOC (single point of contact) team. Our SPOC team supports people with their or their loved ones’ drug and/or alcohol issues primarily over the phone.
No two days are the same and we treat every person who contacts our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time you give you will receive valuable training and gain experience and skills. You’ll be making a real difference too.
