Volunteering in Substance Misuse Services

Overview

Progressing out of direct treatment and into 'maintenance' of recovery is an essential part of the recovery journey.

Our Aftercare programme aims to equip our service users with skills and opportunities to continue to live a balanced lifestyle as they progress.

You can make a difference.

Responsibilities

We are seeking volunteer(s) to work within the Aftercare element of our groups programme. Topics can be varied, but all concentrate on building recovery capital, enrichment, and living a balanced lifestyle.

You will participate in preparation for the groups, administration of them, and facilitation of the material.

It would be an advantage to have some knowledge of substance misuse, the ethics and techniques involved and methodology of recovery.

You will gain confidence and experience in facilitating groups, knowledge of pathways and approaches to recovery, plus a rewarding experience as participant's Change, Grow and Live.

You will need a level of computer literacy sufficient to handle emails, complete online training, and use our patient records system.

In particular we seek volunteers who have availability at any of the following days and times (please mention within your application which venue is applicable for you);

Newark (Thursday mornings)

Worksop (morning and afternoon Tuesdays)

Retford (Tuesdays)

Mansfield (Thursday afternoon, Friday afternoon)

If you have a particular talent or interest which you could bring to enhance our groups, please make mention within your application e.g. musical skill, relaxation activity, artistic skills, SMART facilitator. Such a skill is not an essential requirement, but we are always looking to expand on the service that we offer.

We aim to carry out value based discussions with suitable applicants within two weeks of the closing date.

Please note that for staffing purposes the applicable 'Hub' for Retford and Newark is Worksop. It would be necessary to travel to Worksop on occasions for training or team meetings. Expenses incurred as a result of volunteering are reimbursed.

The nature of these roles determines that an enhanced criminal record and barring list check is undertaken, you will require three forms of identification and a verifiable address history for the past five years in order to complete this.

Closing Date

31/5/2024
