We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Homeless Recovery Worker who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs.  

 

No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key. 

 

Where: Ealing

When: We are looking to get the right person into the team ASAP 

Hours: Max 22.5 per week (3 days a week)

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

  • Support the Rough Sleepers DAT team to engage and support individuals who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple needs/substance misuse
  • You will be working alongside the team, responding to referrals, targeting known locations within the community
  • Actively engaging and building a positive relationship with people who are rough sleeping/experiencing problems with substance misuse.
  • Carry necessary supplies such as food, paperwork and other provisions
  • Provide confidential, easily accessible, non-judgmental advice around substance misuse,
    safer injecting overdose and what to do in an emergency
  • Support rough sleepers/service user by signposting and advocating for them to access
    support, being a central person between them and other services

  • Ability to work with professional boundaries
  • A non-judgmental attitude
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to work some unsociable hours
  • Polish and Punjabi speakers are encouraged to apply
